Franz Wohlfahrt (March 7, 1833 - Feb. 14, 1884) was a violin teacher and composer, born, and died in Leipzig, Germany. ,

Wohlfahrt's father, Heinrich, was a piano teacher, and noticed his son's musical abilities early on. Franz Wohlfahrt would go on to study with the famous violin teacher Ferdinand David, and eventually become an accomplished teacher himself. Many of his etude and method books are studied by young violinists today.

Easy Fantasia on Christmas Songs for Two Violins is a charming work that goes through the Christmas song Silent Night. In this piece, each part gets a solo part at times, but are usually playing the same rhythms, harmonizing. It's good lyrical work for a young violinist, and also good ear training, for learning how to harmonize. In addition, it's a crowd pleaser for holiday concerts and recitals for young violinists.
