Just a year after the Milan Quartets were completed, Mozart complete a new set of quartets in Vienna after hearing some of the quartets of Haydn. The String Quartet No. 13 in D minor (K. 173) follows the familiar four movement pattern of the string quartet that Mozart was now working with. The Minuet opens with a quotation from the Minuet in Haydn's Op. 9, No. 4 quartet. Listen to a recording from Amazon.com: |
