One of the most known and popular works of classical music today, the Canon & Gigue by Johann Pachelbel were lost to the world for many years and not published in modern times until the early 20th century. The Canon is extremely popular as wedding music, while the lively Gigue is not played frequently today (and was not part of the first publication in the 20th century). The work is originally scored for three violins and basso continuo. This edition is an arrangement for the modern string quartet. |
