Elgar: Elegy

Ask a question about this product

Elgar's Elegy for String Orchestra, Op. 58, is a short work (5-6 minutes) that was first performed in 1909. While officially dedicated to the Rev. RH Haddon, it is widely believed that this highly personal work was written in memory of August Jaeger, Elgar's editor and friend, who died earlier in 1909. August was also immortalized in Elgar's Enigma Variations by the poignant Nimrod variation.
