While best known as the composer of "Funeral March of a Marionette," the work used as the theme of Alfred Hitchcock Presents, and the opera Faust, Charles Gounod composed a large amount of religious music late in his life. Best known of his religious works is his setting of the Ave Maria, which has become a standard fixture of weddings today. This setting utilizes the C-minor prelude from Bach's The Well Tempered Clavier (BWV 846), with a meloday set above Bach's music. We've arranged this popular wedding standard for a variety of solo instruments and ensembles for the active musician. Listen to a recording from Amazon.com: |
